How accurate is this solar calculator?
It is an engineering estimate built on your stated appliances, their duty cycles and the peak sun hours for your zone of Nigeria. It is accurate enough to specify equipment and budget, and every design is confirmed at site survey before a quotation is issued.
What does the calculator actually work out?
Four things: your total daily energy use in kWh, how much of that falls after dark, your peak demand in kW after a diversity factor, and the start-up surge of your largest motor load. Equipment is then chosen to satisfy all four, not just the headline figure.
Why does my location change the result?
Because the same array produces different energy in different places. We use conservative annual averages by zone — 4.4 peak sun hours in the South West against 5.9 in the North East — so a system sized in Lagos is not under-built for the rainy season, and one sized in Maiduguri is not over-built.
Is the calculator free, and do I have to buy anything?
It is free and there is no obligation. You can take the specification it produces and compare it against any other supplier — that is rather the point of publishing the engineering assumptions alongside it.
